Spring is Around the Corner

It can be hard to believe that the cold winter will eventually end, but keep your spirits up—spring is on its way. This time of year often sparks our ambition, leading us to plan various projects. Many of us start thinking about spring clean-ups, landscaping, and backyard projects like building a new deck or gazebo. We attend home and garden shows, gather ideas, and engage in endless discussions about the details of our plans.

Regardless of what’s on your agenda, one common aspect is that we all end up discarding items and making trips to the dump. One solution for this task is to do it yourself: load your trailer or truck, if you have one, and head to one of Winnipeg's two landfills—Brady Landfill or Prairie Green Landfill. However, consider the time it takes to get there, unload your junk, and then drive back home. There’s also the risk of encountering a nail in your tire, which could lead to a flat tire in the middle of the road, costing you both time and money.

Ask yourself: How valuable is my time? Do I really want to organize trips to the landfill? If the answer is yes, that's perfectly fine. However, consider a few important factors. First, ensure you have a suitable vehicle, as you’ll likely need to dump materials on the commercial side, which involves driving a dumpy road and up a steep hill. You should also be skilled at backing up your trailer to the designated dumping area and be cautious of nails and other debris before doing so. Additionally, I recommend avoiding landfill trips during rainy weather.

If you prefer not to make these trips, renting a roll-off bin or dumpster is a simple and efficient alternative for disposing of garbage, demolition materials, dirt, concrete, clutter, and other items you need to get rid of.

There are various sizes of bins available to suit your project needs. If you’re working on landscaping, a 4-yard bin is ideal for disposing of dirt, concrete, and gravel. Its low height makes it easy to load, and the doors in the back allow you to simply push a wheelbarrow into the bin. Managing heavy waste can always be a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be. Let BINco do the heavy lifting. BINco will also make every effort to recycle this material and reduce the cost of disposal.

Some projects involve a thorough spring cleaning or organizing the garage, which often becomes a storage space for unwanted items. How many household items end up in the garage? It seems like the garage is just a temporary holding area before they eventually end up in the dump. A common refrain is, "I might need this!" Yet, those items often take up space for years before you finally decide to get rid of them.

The 14-yard bin is the perfect solution for these types of projects; it stands four feet tall, making it easy to toss everything in. We pick it up, and those items will never be seen again. It's truly "out of sight and out of mind."

If you have an ambitious project in mind, such as building a new deck or updating your home's exterior, you'll need a good imagination, extensive planning, and city permits. Generally, the first step involves tearing down the existing deck, siding, and any hidden materials. One customer discovered an old deck buried beneath the surface once they began dismantling the existing one.

As the saying goes, "It will get worse before it gets better" — that’s often how major projects begin. To make this initial stage easier, consider renting a 20-yard dumpster that can accommodate a significant amount of debris, including wood, siding, windows, old patio furniture, and just about anything else you might find in your yard.
The key takeaway is to avoid wasting your valuable time by not going to the dump repeatedly. Since you already have a lot on your plate with the project, renting a BINco dumpster will simplify the process and help you stay organized.
